➡️ Test centre: Paper-based (PBT) & Computer-based (CBT)

🔶 IELTS Academic can be taken in a test centre on paper or on computer, and can now also be taken online.
🔶 IELTS General Training can only be taken in a test centre on paper or on computer.

👉🏻 For visa and immigration purposes, you should continue to take your test in an authorised IELTS test centre. Check which test you should take in the website.
For Academic and General Training you take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.
The Speaking test may be scheduled up to a week before or after the other tests. If you booked IELTS Online, your Speaking test will usually take place before your other tests. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

➡️ IELTS Online
In your IELTS Online test the Listening, Reading and Writing questions are taken the same way as with IELTS on computer. Your Speaking test will still be with a human examiner, and happens via an online video call.

For whom?
IELTS Online is designed for international higher education. Check with your university if ILETS Online results are accepted, as some universities do not accept the results of IELTS Online.
For UKVI Online Test is accepted for some countries. Check updates here

For your test environment, you will need:

• a desk in a quiet, private, well-lit space
• your ID (Passport)
• a reliable internet connection
• a computer or laptop (not a tablet or phone).
• If taking IELTS Online you will need a phone or tablet with a camera to use during the room scan.

Your computer or laptop must have:

• windows or macOS
• a webcam, microphone, and speakers
• one screen only.

Check your computer is ready to take IELTS Online

• Download the Inspera Exam Portal.
• Click ‘Next’ which starts the pre-test system checks.
